myFace - Spokesperson and Fundraiser

I was born with Pierre Robin sequence, a craniofacial difference. In 2020 I started giving back to myFace, the organization that supports people going through the same care I did.

What I Do

I take part in peer groups for kids with craniofacial differences, and I speak about my own experience. A lot of the work is simply being the person in the room who has already been through it, so a kid can see someone further along and feel less alone about it.

I also fundraise for the annual campaign. I have been the top individual fundraiser twice and have raised over $20,000 for craniofacial care, and I received the 2023 Ramey-Ross Award for dedication to the craniofacial community.

Why It Matters to Me

This is where giving back stopped being an abstraction for me. It is also a large part of why I want to be an engineer: I know firsthand what good design and good care can do for someone, and I would like to build the things that do that for other people.

In Their Words

myFace wrote a profile about me, gymnastics, and where the strength for both comes from.
