Project Description
CMU's Booth - Manufacturing and Building Lead
Booth is one of the showpieces of Carnegie Mellon's Spring Carnival: student organizations build multi-story wooden structures on Midway, themed and full of games, judged by division. I led manufacturing and building for AEPi's 2025 and 2026 booths, which placed 2nd and 3rd in the fraternity division.
What I Led
Everything moves onto Midway the Friday before Carnival and has to open to the public the following Thursday, so the whole structure goes up in under a week. I ran the build: framing plans and cut lists, wall layout and assembly, raising the second story, and keeping a rotating crew of volunteers working safely on schedule.
Most of the job is sequencing. Walls have to be squared and sheathed before the deck goes on, the deck before the second story, and the facade painting can only start once the structure stops moving.
