Hip Exoskeleton Motor-Stability Strap Attachments

A pelvis issue caused the hip-exoskeleton motor to break away from its support. I designed this strap interface to stabilize the motor while the pelvis was repaired.

Design goals

  • Build a fast, reversible temporary support.
  • Route straps without interfering with the motor or frame.
  • Reposition attachments to compare strap layouts.

Repositionable Test Setup

I built an adjustable assembly to compare strap positions, then checked the selected layout in the full exoskeleton for fit and clearance.

Evaluation

I compared visible motor motion, stability, strap access, and component interference. Testing was subjective, with no instrumented load or displacement data.

Outcome

Testing identified the best strap location, which I implemented in the final CAD. The support was never needed because the pelvis issue was resolved a few days after testing ended.
